YardSprout Community Fund is a 501c3 nonprofit sponsored by the Abundance Foundation. Our mission is to promote and advance sustainable urban gardening, farming, and landscaping and lawn care practices, resources, and educational programs.
Sustainable Land Management
YardSprout.org engages with governments, organizations, land owners, neighborhoods, and service providers to advance mechanisms to transition parcels of public or private land into sustainable management uses, including pollinator gardens, food gardens, community gardens, or other natural habitat. Our Pollinator Garden in Carrboro NC is an example of public partnerships we am to expand.
Documentary
YardSprout.org aims to document the growing and evolving urban farming, green landscaping and local foods movements. We’re currently collecting video, audio, and photos from a number of pioneers in the Triangle, NC area, and aim to expand this work to explore the challenges, traditions, changes, contradictions, and opportunities in this growing field. Best Practices
YardSprout.org is launching a national research study and survey of the food gardening, urban farming, and green landscaping industries to reveal best practices challenges, and opportunities. We will publish our findings online and as a guidebook available to communities, individuals, and service providers looking for effective and efficient models to expand sustainable land management in their area.
